EDIT: Because it makes me feel neat and tidy to include this, here are links to the Start Thread and the Voting Thread for the WINGS BANNER round.

OK - Here goes. Public votes and PMs are in and spreadsheeted.

:::Our TOP TEN WINGS BANNERS are:::

1st place - 14 votes totally 72 points -- Brazil by Goggles (B)

2nd place - TIED with 50 points each...
14 votes for ETM's Viper Mark II (X)

AND 11 votes for miscreation's Wings Icine (Z)

4th place - 9 votes for 43 points - Exile Icine by Goggles (J)

5th place - 9 votes for 40 points for Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (by me!)

6th place - 6 votes for 32 points for Icine Wings (N) by Miscreation

7th place - 7 votes for 27 points - Desire by DJ Rkod (F)

8th place - 6 votes for 22 points for Dark Wings (E) by astor

9th place - 6 votes for 21 points for Fuin Elda's Dragonfly Wing (H)

10th place TIED - 20 points each
6 votes for Goggles Rise of Flight (R)

AND
5 votes for White Feathers by Fuin Elda (Y)

I'll make more entries to match up banners with makers, but this gives astor a nice starting bank for top or the page banners.

Great work everyone! Hug

Funny: I was actually seriously thinking about using the image Astor used in her banner, but I'm glad I didn't because she did a splendid job with it. Smile

These are jaw-dropping. Great to see nice work by a handful of new people and Fuin, wow, I didn't know you had the photoshop hookup, girlfriend.

Thanks Jenni. Hug I felt I had messed up when it came to the text - couldn't find a good font to use and since I'd started late there was no time to find a good one. However rmkblair reminded me that RJ gave me 900 fonts to upload to icine in 2006, so for future reference for fontseekers:

Nice. Great job, everyone.

I'm going to take ownership of the two I made as well, in case anyone feels like passing along some tips.

I know what you mean, Jenni. I didn't vote, but if I did, I would give ONE MILLION points to mobsters for his Supernatural Angel. This has been my desktop for awhile now. (It's probably the frame after the one Mobs used.) I played with it for a long time and decided there was no way to get a good crop and even if I did, I thought any font choice wasn't going to work. Then he surprised me with his submission and showed me how lame I am at this!

BANNERS that tallied up 10 or more points:

V. Two Birds by miscreation (19 pts)

T. Supernatural Angel by mobsters (17 pts - plus a million!)

I. Edward Scissorhands by mobsters (14 pts)

G. Dr. Who Weeping Angel by ETM (12 pts)

A. All Wings Collage by mosters (10 pts)

Collages mostly don't work. Mostly.
It's best to either stick to a single image + graphics/text, or bits and pieces of several images that blend well, OR if you have such material - stick some together in a seamless collage, like that Scissorhands one. But Fresh ideas. Thumbs Up

(sorry for the slowness - my connection seems to be patchy today)

If we ever did set up brackets, Goggles would be top seed - All three of hers made it into the top ten! Well done, lady! Penguin 2

MORE BANNERS

9 point banners:
S. Snowy Owl by jennigirl (Heart the OWL idea, Jen!)

D. Collage by Dean (poster with no name)

8 point banners:
W. Up by jennigirl (This one is FUN!! and may have just not fit the wings theme well enough to collect more votes?)

7 point banners
AA. Wings of Desire by ETM

6 point banners
P. OWL by jennigirl

Q. Research Angel by me (I was perfectly prepared for this to be a zero point banner and then astor 'got it' enough to toss it a vote.)

I liked the Up balloons, that one was on my short list of banners that did not make the final 7 on my ballot. The heavy JPEG compression hurts it though, particularly around the lettering.

I use Paint, because I've just never gotten around to installing gimpshop or comparible software on my laptop after I had to reinstall windows a few months back, so that explains the lettering. I notice it as well (which is saying something 'cause I'm not particularly good at doing artsy stuff on images Very Happy ), but was hoping it wasn't too bad.

But I love it anyway, there was just so much talent that it didn't get a lot of attention, which is cool. I had fun making it, and I'm looking forward to seeing them all up top! Smile

The rest of our work:

5 pts
K. Fairy Reach - Astor

4 pts
U. Take Your Wings - Fuin Elda

C. Crime Scene Angel - rmkblair

3 pts
BB. Wings of Icine - astor

2 pts
M Icine Collage - Dean (poster with no name) You execution will improve. I really like seeing two angles of the same statue, though. And that Lilith is only surpassed by the one Fluffy was mean to. Very Happy

0 pts
L. Flying Guy by Rob Prentes (Honestly, there's a charm about this one. I like the smudges around the figure making it look like it really is taking off.)

I so, so wanted to make a Wings Of Desire banner using some of the stuff astor fit in her banner, but in the end, the DVD caps weren't of a high-resolution enough for my tastes and I settled for a photograph taken in tribute instead.
