I really enjoyed his take on the Chocolate Factory, although I don't have the same connection to the original (or Wilder's Wonka) that most people seem to do. Depp was a bit overly creepy, though.
I didn't mind the new Chocolate Factory either. Although I've been waiting for decades for someone to make the sequel so I can see some Vermicious Knids.
If we ban Tim Burton, how will Helena Bonham Carter get work?
Maybe by having a part in a tiny, nearly invisible movie franchise called Harry Potter?
I know, I wreck everything.
This is why you're not allowed to Saturday morning spoonfest anymore.
And I've got no problem with Burton making films, even though none of them have interested me since Big Fish.
spoonfest?? what?!? why wasn't i invited??

He needs to team up with better writers. His last few projects have been soulless.

Sweeney Todd's writing is strong IMO. Alice was awful.

Yes, Alice was quite horrible. I hated it. I mean, it's Alice and Wonderland. It's supposed to be like a crazy, non-nonsensical drug trip, not a Lord of the Rings-style, self-serious war epic, which is exactly what it turned into by the end. When you have the Mad Hatter fighting people on a battlefield with a broadsword, you know you've gone terribly wrong.

The only thing from Tim Burton I've really liked recently was Big Fish. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was horrible mediocre - it basically felt like the "dark, weird, Burton-esque" vibe was too heavily accompanied by an oddly kiddie, family friendly feel to the whole thing that just didn't feel natural - hell, the original was darker and creepier and more engrossing than Burton's version. Movies can be family friendly without it feeling forced.
I wasn't a huge fan of Sweeney Todd either. It looked nice, and I wanted to love it, but something about it felt off - the story was paced slowly and the characters weren't as interesting as they seemed like they should have been.
