Just letting ya'll know I'm gonna be hitting up a list of some of the Best Female Vocal Performances That Totally KICK ASS!!!

Sunday night, 9pm-ish.

If you don't listen, you won't die, but you'll miss some cool music, eh?

Starting this ahead of time as well to take some requests. I've got a little over 5,000 songs on my iTunes and the likelihood I have the song you think is awesome is fairly good. PM me your requests and I'll see if I can get it on air.

Any genre, any decade, any hairstyle. Overall these are female solo performances that can bring down the house. That means the vocal performance is the highlight, not the beat behind it. So there will be no weakass strained Britney Spears or Janet Jackson. With rare exception I'm avoiding duets.

I also don't claim this is any sort of definitive list. If I own it, it's cause I like the song, so obviously these are just my favorites (and some of yours if you PM me!). Smile

edit: the list...

`Whitney Houston - Star Spangled Banner
`Janis Joplin - Cry Baby
`Nina Simone - Feelin' Good
`Grace Slick (Jefferson Airplane) - White Rabbit
`Stevie Nicks - Crystal
`Eva Cassidy - Stormy Monday
`Ann Wilson (Heart) - Alone
`Brandi Carlile - The Story
`Cat Power - The Greatest
`Mama Cass - Make Your Own Kind of Music
`Christina Aguilera - Hurt
`Cowboy Junkies - Blue Moon
`Dusty Springfield - Son of a Preacher Man
`Ella Fitzgerald - Stars Fell On Alabama
`Joan Jett - I Love Rock and Roll
`Whitney Houston - One Moment in Time
`Sarah Mclaughlin - I Will Remember You
`Nancy Sinatra - Bang Bang My Baby Shot Me Down
`Bobbie Gentry - Ode to Billie Joe
`Laura Brannigan - Gloria
`Bjork - It's Oh So Quiet
`Shirley Manson (Garbage) - #1 Crush
`Amy Winehouse - You Know That I'm No Good
`Sara Bareilles - Gravity
`Hope Vandol (Mazzy Star) - Fade Into You
`Etta James - At Last
`Mariah Carey - Emotions
`Emily Haines (Metric) - Help I'm Alive
`Tina Turner - What's Love Got To Do With It
`Roberta Flack - Killing Me Softly
`Dolores O'Riordan (Cranberries) - Dreams
`Nancy Sinatra - One of These Days These Boots...
`Eva Cassidy - Over the Rainbow

As far as female vocalists, one of my favorite artists has always been Mazzy Star (Hope Sandoval). If you could fit them in, that'd rock.

I have one Mazzy Star track and it's a good one. Will put it in the line-up!

Nope it's cool. I'm down with artists in general getting shout-outs in the main thread. It was more if you have a specific song then shoot me the PM that way the whole setlist isn't already in the thread before it gets played. Smile

Gotta say, great recs so far from all fronts. Thumbs Up

I don't think so, but I'll surely post the set list after it's done. Sowwy.

K, well I'm gonna get her fired up in a few minutes here. Hopefully it works. I only tested it for about 20 seconds yesterday. Sidelong

First track doesn't have a title, btw cause I kinda bootlegged it but it's to start us out on a patriotic note. Very Happy

Yeah. I don't get it. It literally disconnects every 62 seconds and then reconnects. I decreased the reconnect timeout to 0 seconds but that doesn't seem to have helped.

I just disconnected until I can figure it out. I was getting an error everytime I brought up the shoutcast to begin with but it had seemed to work anyway. Maybe it wasn't working afterall. Hrm.

Are you trying to broadcast music you bought with iTunes?

I have the same issue whenever I play a song that has DRM.

Any song that was purchased there (not sure if it applies to eMusic, etc. though I'm guessing it does) will give you the same problem. The other songs will work but then as soon as one of the paid songs comes up, it will happen again. I know, it sucks.

I'll listen in and if it doesn't work I can try and connect to see if I have the problem which would mean some other issue.

I can see the title of your set "Female Vocals" like earlier (before it was "Female Vocalists that Kill") so at least you're connected that much... but I can't hear anything or see artists and song titles scrolling or anything.

I dunno. The error I was always getting was "this application has failed to start because NSCRT.dll was not found. re-installing may fix the problem". well i've uninstalled and reinstalled twice. whatever plugin is missing doesn't install. still, i can get Winamp to play and accept my settings but whenever i open the program or go to adjust the Preferences it brings up that alert which i dismiss and go on.

the connection problem is still there on my end. 62 seconds. it's like hitting the button in LOST or something.

K. Well thanks for coming folks. I went ahead and bugged out. Maybe we can give this a shot next Sunday if I can get it working. Amber's Shrug Sad

Supes, you're welcome to connect and see if it's my problem or Winamps.

Hang in there! According to this thread Shoutcast does not need that .dll file.

I'll give it a try, and if I have the same problem, I can reboot the radio on icine.
