Thinking about that last shot of Sam and I'm leaning towards him not actually being there in the physical form but rather him being a spirit. Sort of like the Reapers and ghosts.
Friday nights? With the new Nikita taking its place on Thursday? Are they trying to kill it?! Do they want it to have only 9 people watching so they can take it off the air? Have I ever been more worried about this seemingly bad idea for a sixth season than I am now?

Description of Season 6 as per the CW's upfront presentation. Potential spoilers, particularly regarding who/what was standing under that streetlamp at the end of the season.
Spoiler:
“Season six will be a season of mystery and shadow. Heaven and Hell have been left in complete disarray since the apocalyptic events of season five. And now, monsters, angels and demons roam across a lawless and chaotic landscape. And so Dean Winchester, who has retired from hunting and sworn never to return, finds himself being pulled back into his old life – pulled back by none other than Sam Winchester, who has escaped from Hell. The two reunite to beat back the rising tide of creatures and demon-spawn, but they quickly realize that neither are who they used to be, their relationship isn’t what it used to be, and that nothing is what it seems.”
My response:
Spoiler:
Sounds cool, though I really really dislike the idea of there being further brotherly strife between Sam and Dean. Seems we went there after Dean returned from Hell. Now we will do it from Sam's perspective and it will either feel recycled or too painful to enjoy their further tortured relationship.

LaLaLaLaLaaaa.... I really wish we could have a couple weeks of relaxing and not worrying about running across spoilers. I'm not clicking for now, but I don't see how I'll manage to avoid official promo stuff for the next 3-4 months! Is the spoiler something that's definite or open to interpretation? I did read one bit about casting status for S6.
No more student days at school (yay!) so I started rewatching S1 over the weekend. I saw Bloody Mary this afternoon and was struck again by how there is absolutely NOTHING that can't be traced back to the beginning of the story. Sam's showdown with himself in the mirror when he summons the Bloody Mary monster was JUST LIKE him talking to himself in the cracked mirror during the Lucifer possession. Indeed, there's a whole scene of Sam insisting that Dean let him do it and later Dean showing up to free Sam only to be caught himself....
Seeing the disappointment from some for the LOST finale has me double-checking my expectations for where I think the Winchesters' story has to go.

Nah. I wasn't complaining about you at all. I just wish the show or network or whatever had taken an actual break. I'd have a little fun poking through old spoiler news if I weren't afraid of running into new news.
I just watched "Skin" for the first time in forever. Man! I'd forgotten how clearly they had Dean self-identify as a "freak" with "issues" and advising Sam to be more like Dean (lie, don't try to have friends, etc.) early on in the series. This is before Sam's powers manifest - though I guess he would have had the premonitory dreams of Jessica's death. Dean doesn't know that yet.
PS - five years later and I STILL can't watch the shedding scene. And I can't help watching a blink too long so inevitably the pretty turns grotesque before I can turn away. There isn't a shapeshifter episode I don't think is excellent!
Jensen Ackles is going to be directing the fourth episode next season. I don't think there are more details yet, but I'll be staying away from them when there are.

So I just started watching this. Like first 2 episodes just started. But I can already tell that I'll love it. I'm a sucker for monster type stuff to begin with, and it's got sort of the same sort of humor that Buffy & Angel had. I like the back and forth between Sam & Dean and I really just love Dean in general.

Pudie!!
Please let us know how it goes for you. We've had a couple of fun viewing threads so don't be shy about starting one if you want to make sure we don't spoil you in here. It's been a while so I'd jump at the chase to cheerlead for you.

The one thing I don't like about this show so far is the complete lack of consequence that exists so far. In just 4 episodes they've impersonated countless federal officials(even got busted for it), escaped homeland security after impersonating them, beat up local police officers, and attacked a co pilot on a plane. Not to mention that even though they seem to have the unspoken "dont tell people the REAL truth" rule they break it every episode.
Now I understand needing to fudge things a bit for the sake of story and thats fine. But they are just WAY too careless and I hope it's addressed at some point.
Dean is getting better and better though. And I absolutely love the heavy metal soundtrack.

There are always consequences...trust me.
Dean and the soundtrack was what got me through the first half of the season, which is pretty poor (minus a bunch of episodes) compared to the rest of the seasons. But once it gets into a groove it gets better.

Yea I've heard the first season is not so great. But I don't really mind it so far. It's not great or anything yet, but it's not Buffy Season 1 bad. I'm guessing it's more people just comparing it to what's ahead and seeing it on the same level. So I'm excited to see where this goes.

This. My brother had the same not-quite complaint about the ease of the boys' impersonations (Rangers Ford and Hammill indeed ) at first, too.
One thing I love is discovering that even the early or lesser episodes are worth remembering down the line. For example, Dead in the Water had three scenes with the army men. First, it was a vehicle for Dean and Lucas to connect on the park bench. Then, the camera focuses on them in Lucas's room when Dean goes to ask for more help and opens up about being scared and doing his best to be brave for his mom. Finally, it's an army man Lucas is reaching for when he's pulled from the dock.
S5 spoiler NOT for Pudie!!
Spoiler:
It makes my heart swell a little that they chose an army man for Sam to spot in the Impala ashtray and hook onto and connect back to Dean. If it wasn't planned from the beginning as something they would return to, it still works as if they had. There is an extra layer (or two!) of meaning on that storytelling choice since technically they could have chosen anything, right? A pog or a battleship ship or whatever just wouldn't accomplish the same thing for those of us (okay, me) who are bound and determined to theorize about this story.
The army men were also seen in Dean's Dark Side of the Moon heaven-memory of his childhood bedroom -- not to mention the consistent references to Dean as John's soldier (and Castiel as God's). I wouldn't be surprised if there are other references I haven't remembered yet.

Could INCEPTION (without the Ellen Page character for exposition) provide a way of exploring SUPERNATURAL?
edit to spoiler - even though I'm thinking in broad generalities, I don't want to mess up anyone's experience with either story! (Also, I'll just keep adding points as I think of them. )
And what, for the past season and a half, I've been really talking about seeing... projections and manifestations and constructions of subconscious issues getting in the way of "waking" or "understanding" or however else to put the idea of a happy ending for the Winchesters.
There's also the whole question of control of reality in Inception which I've framed as 'authorship' in SPN....
I preordered Season 5 today. I only watched the first 10 (or so) episodes... so I'm excited to finally see the rest of the season!

for Fergie! I'm waiting for one big reason: I hope someone will do a give-away. My poor little Impala's paint is all chipped from being carried around in my pocket like a worry stone. (Don't worry, I have a backup still in the original package. ) I did see a rumor about a keychain at Best Buy?
It's confirmed that the boys' contracts make them available for a seventh season IF there ends up being one. Without having links to back myself up, it's my impression that the show has done decently in syndication and in dvd sales which would make that a possibility even if the Friday night ratings drop as would be expected.

Image from the Season 6 premiere episode. Nothing too spoilery. Just the boys standing around with one other cast member (but if you don't want to know who that is, don't click). I have a serious issue with the photo though...
