How the hell did Federer lose a set 1-6? That's embarrassing.

It's called tanking, as in leaving something in the tank for a set I have a chance at winning.

Berdych just went up a break in the 4th set. Doesn't look good for Fed. Sorry Ashley.
Yeah, Fed has never really been one to tank anything. Berdych must be playing out of his mind. Wish I was watching it.

Not only is it the second open in a row where he doesn't make it to the semis after his record breaking streak, but it's the first time in 7 years he hasn't made it to the Wimbledon finals.

Now that Federer is out, I'm pulling for Djookvich. He's been quietly making his way through everyone without much problem.

Đoković is a screwup when it comes to chances like this, I have a feeling he's gonna blow it again. I hope he doesn't.

Not so much because of the loss mind you, but because I think I have to finally accept that Federer is getting older and his best days are mostly behind him. I've kind of been in denial for awhile.
That's not taking anything away from Berdych, I didn't see the match but I know that he's capable of playing amazing tennis when he's on, but honestly, against vintage Fed, at Wimbledon, that wouldn't really matter.
Oh well I suppose, it's not like he's got anything to prove at this point. I think I'll root for Murray now, just so he can get the Brits off his back.
Side note: WTF the Williams' lost in doubles?

Woah, the Williams sisters lost? Did not expect that. I still assume Serena will win singles though.

So, Vera Zvonarava into the final. On the one hand, she's actually an excellent player when she's on her game, and certainly the only of the other three semi-finalists with the game to at least challenge Serena.
On the other hand, she's also the biggest headcase on the women's tour, which frankly, is really saying something. I have a feeling this could get ugly.

There are amazing players in every generation. No one can speculate how they'd play against each other. "Vintage Fed" is just that - in the past.
And Kvitova is actually playing really well against Serena.

The US Open has finally started. Who will create the magic this year?

With the men, I could easily see any of the top four taking it, or even perhaps someone like a Berdych or a Soderling if they get hot. On the women's side, with Serena out it really seems wide open. I'm thinking Clijsters or Sharapova (who apparently has started to regain her old form as for late) are the favourites, but who knows.

This is a good sign for Ana...
NEW YORK (AP)—Unseeded Ana Ivanovic of Serbia has advanced to the third round of the U.S. Open with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over 21st-seeded Zheng Jie of China.
Ivanovic, the former world No. 1 who now stands at No. 40, needed 56 minutes Wednesday to defeat Zheng at Arthur Ashe Stadium. Ivanovic won the 2008 French Open, but has never been past the fourth round at Flushing Meadows.
She hit 22 winners in making quick work of Zheng. The match was played in sweltering conditions—with bright sunshine and temperatures in the 90s.

Anyways, Roddick lost last night. Kind of hard to feel bad for him after he threw YET ANOTHER toddler-esque temper tantrum on court, this time after being (accurately) called for a foot fault.

I like Roddick. He donates a lot of his time. But I agree with you about his complaining. Dude, you're like 28 or something. Get it together. Tisparevic played awesome.

Tisparevic's interview afterwards was awesome. I'm already pulling for the guy to go far after seeing him only play one match.

You know, I swore awhile ago that I would stop caring about Richard Gasquet, but after watching his match against Davydenko earlier today, that could be difficult. That backhand is just so gorgeous. I did have to laugh though when he hit two double faults on his first two match points, before coming up with a big serve to win it on the third. Oh, so very Gasquet.
In a bit of a surprise, Marin Cilic, the guy who destroyed Andy Murray in last years tournament, went down in five sets today. Apparently the match lasted well over four hours, in absolutely brutal heat. Eep.

Ryan Harrison reminds me so much of the guy from The OC that it's distracting.

**Shallow comment alert**
Venus Williams looks like a crazy person. Her bedazzled black "outfit" is completely ridiculous when paired with bright white shoes and a visor. She looks like a snow bird down in Phoenix who throws on her "fancy" t-shirt with her runners and, well, visor.

Another solid win for Ana yesterday - she looked especially good in what they showed of the second set. I can't see her taking out Kimmie in the next round, but a good showing would certainly be a good sign about where she is on the comeback trail right now.
