Aww, I'm so excited for you. Savor medical school my man. It can be brutal at times, but some of the best years of your life gauranteed. |
Thanks so much. I'm going to do my best to savor and to take the brutality with my chin up. I've got that desire to skip ahead to third year and put on the scrubs or coat and get to seeing patients and talking to doctors, etc, but I'm going to try to appreciate my last two years as a regular student in the classroom. Especially after a day in the clinic, I have a vague idea of what I need to push into my head over the next two years before I can even start to play doctor. Anyway, excited about starting.
| Quote: | Just watching the news. Apparently we've already had 14 days total this season that have been above 90 degrees. And it's not even technically summer yet (that starts in 2 days, btw). For some perspective on that, we had 13 days above 90 degrees over the entire season last year. And like I said, not a single day in the forecast with a high below 92.
Jeez. I should really get out there and work on my tan.
Also, I found out there was a "pretty loud, pretty wet" thunderstorm this morning. Slept right through it. Man, I'm like the dead when it's my weekend catchup days. |
I always forget that summer starts in late June. The start of May generally feels like the beginning of summer to me. Yall are getting a brutal heat wave though. Deviation from the norm really tells the tale there. Gonna be a hot one.
We've had loud thunderstorms here three days in a row now. Brief, in the afternoons, but they come with a lot of wind and thunder. Blow through quick.

Sad day today for me. Last day of residency. I don't handle these sorts of transitions well. It's a testament that all the large chunks of my life have been filled with great experiences and even greater friends that moving on is always hard and I have a tough time coping but it's worse this time since I'm going out on my own for a year and scared about being alone. I'm still in town and still friends that I have here but they'll have their own obligations and I won't be seeing them everyday for reassurance.
It's this sort of time when I wish I had a husband. Someone right there with me every day since I feel the distance of my family and best friends being far away. I'm a very social person, I need daily interaction and this sort of lifestyle change is terrifying me.
There's you guys though. You are my constant.

I'm sure you are going to meet some new, interesting people. You're a very engaging person, so this time next year you're going to have a whole bunch of new people to talk to.
But I'm glad we're here. I was thinking recently that we've been at Icine for 5 years now. And even though LOST is over, we've all had such great experiences, and some bad experiences, in our lives, and yes, Icine has been a place to go whether it be to be excited about something or share sorrow about something.
I miss talking to you as much as we used to, but it's nice to know that you are still around!

Like Mobs said, you'll meet tons of new people. You seem like the sort of person who never has any trouble meeting new people.
I'm glad to have all of you as well. I've known many of you for well over 5 years now, and it's been great having you all in my life. During the evenings when I'm lonely and at home, it's nice to be able to log on here and communicate with people.

yeah
Wish we all could just meet for lunch or dinner on a moments notice, but for now being able to come here and engage is kinda cool.

Thanks guys. I know I'll meet new people and all, but like I said I tend to handle these sorts of transitions in the most emotionally dramatic way possible.

I haven't been on Icine much in the past year... but I also think of you guys as my constant. With all the ridiculous movin' around I do, it's nice to know that, when I'm feelin' a bit low, all I need is an internet connection to feel like I'm "home."
Hope the move goes well, Amb. I'm thinkin' of ya!

Good job deducing that I might look forward to a story about the plague if Sean Bean is telling it.
Btw - where your ears ringing recently, Zen? Mobs and I stopped to think of you while we were waiting it out at the airport.

I have a 3 day course in Timmins, Ontario. I'm leaving tonight and coming back Thursday.

3 day course in what? Anything special in Timmins? Like the world's largest collection of wadded up chewing gum or something?

Hey, Primo! Do you keep up with the animated Batman releases?
(If so, let me know when you get around to Under the Red Hood.)

I'm putting it into my netflix queue, but only just now so I don't know how long it will be stuck on a wait. When it comes in I'll let you know what I thought. I'm always a sucker for some Batman.

Dangerous goods shipping. Finally it was a 4 day training, and it was long and boring. I almost fell asleep a few times.
Timmins has a shitload of pickups and a gold mine. Apparently there's a strip club somewhere in the basement of some building. Oh, and it's also where Shania Twain grew up (there's the "Shania Twain Center").

So it's 98 degrees outside. I just laid out by our pool for around an hour, sweating like a pig, reading a book and damned if I don't think I wound up with heat exhaustion. I never got in the pool but when I started to feel bad I went back inside, nearly threw up, could barely see, then fell into the shower and just sat there for about 15 minutes with the cold water running over me. Now I've chugged about a pint of chocolate milk and am gonna head out for some Gatorade cause I still feel like I could drink all of Lake Michigan.
